Ice Cream Social!

The Consistory has again planned to have one family fun activity every month during the summer. The first will be Sunday evening, June 10th: an ice cream social! We’ll have ice cream, toppings, and formal and informal games, and maybe some songs. (Our ability to sing is always enhanced after we’ve had ice cream.) This may be your last chance to play a computer game on the pastor’s Commodore.
At some time during the fun, we’ll talk about an event for July, and see what date works best. In the past we’ve often traveled to Topeka for things like miniature golf and go carting. Come with ideas!

VBS Theme: Color Kingdom

What does this title mean?? Guess you’ll just need to be here to find out. Vacation Bible School begins a week from Wednesday, June 6th.
As has been announced, VBS this year will be held weekly through June and July. Each Wednesday morning (except July 4th) we’ll meet from 9:00 until 11:00. An organizational meeting is being held here this coming Wednesday, May 30th, at 9:00 AM. Anyone willing to participate as a leader or helper in VBS is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Since many may be gone on one or more Wednesdays this summer, our leaders have chosen a curriculum in which each day’s lessons stand independently; meaning there is no reason not to come when you can even if you cannot be here every Wednesday.
Registration/information sheets are available on the table in the annex. You are encouraged to pre-register. However, anyone may join at any time. We do encourage new folks to arrive about 8:45 so we can register everyone and get started on time knowing how many are here.

Parsonage Family no Longer in the Parsonage

They finally did it, or at least should have by the time you read this. Yes, Bella should be at the new house by now, which makes the move official. The new address is 729 Brentwood Court, Junction City 66441. The phone number is 785-238-0157.
As for the parsonage itself, the Consistory will hold its regular monthly meeting there June 6th. They will determine what work needs to be done before a new pastor moves in or the house is sold. For now, a garden plot is available to any interested person. Rumor has it that we may have such a person. Pastor John will continue to occasionally use the parsonage for a “base” when he is in town.

Confirmed May 20th

On Pentecost Sunday, two young women formally professed their faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior and were welcomed as confirmed members of the church of Jesus Christ and of Peace UCC. In a reception following the worship service, the church celebrated the baptism and confirmation of Kendyl (misspelled in last week’s bulletin) Bolinder and the confirmation of Lily Ogden, who was baptized here when she was five years old. Both were completing their freshman year of high school as they were being confirmed. A cheesecake and punch reception was held in the annex after the service of confirmation.

Emma Frey (confirmation class of 2017) joined the confirmation candidates at their retreat at Camp White the weekend prior to confirmation. Confirmation mentors Jenifer Anderson and Mary Drake both had significant conflicts that weekend; thanks to Susan Schrader and Jo Dunlap for their help with the retreat.

Junior Acolytes!

It was quite an event: THREE of our Acolytes completed their Junior Acolyte requirements at pretty much the same time, so that we were able to recognize all three in the worship service May 13th. Congratulations to Leah Schrader, Leityn Bolinder and Allison Huff.
