News from the October 28th Bulletin

All Saints Sunday Observed One Week Early

Ordinarily we observe All Saints Sunday on or the first Sunday after November 1st. Since that Sunday will be the day for a trial sermon and congregational meeting (see below) it was decided to hold that observance, along with communion, one week early. Ordinarily the last Sunday in October is “Reformation/Reconciliation” Sunday. So today we’ll add our prayers for the universal church.

All members and friends of Peace UCC are invited to meet the pastoral candidate in an informal setting in the annex on Saturday at 9:00 AM. A few days ago all voting members were sent a letter of introduction. Extra copies are available on the hall table.

Special Congregational Meeting

One week from today the worship service will be led by Michael Vollbrecht, the candidate recommended by the Search Committee to become pastor of Peace UCC. Following the service there will be a special congregational meeting to determine whether to extend a call to Mr. Vollbrecht. Those who are not voting members are welcome to remain to witness the vote.

Fall Congregational Meeting

The next regular congregational meeting will be the annual fall meeting to be held after worship November 18th. This is the meeting where next year’s budget is presented and voted upon, and the meeting where new Consistory members are elected. Those elected will be installed during the January congregational meeting.

Acolyte Meetings and God’s Children to Continue

“God’s Children of Peace” will continue to meet on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Tuesday each month. Chris Wenderott and Claudia McKenzie will be meeting the children at school, as always. This includes November 13th, which was inadvertently left off the schedule.
Kris Frey and Steward Acolyte Jackson Frey will be running the Acolyte meetings that follow “God’s Children,” pending the arrival of a new pastor. Acolyte meetings run from 5:00 until 5:45.
Any additional or substitute help is greatly appreciated.
